It is two days later. Two days after Robert had shot the helicopter down in the kopjes and from the time that Michelle had been wounded. It rains and far above the city, a lightning bolt flashes, but there's sunshine in Robert's heart.
Robert smells the rain, the bearer of new life. The wet tar from which the vapour still raises, the silver edges of the dark clouds and even the big drops that splashes away before the wind screen wipers all contributes to his gladness.
The main source of Robert's joy is Michelle, who is recovering in the hospital. The night after the emergency operation had been performed on her Robert had been at her bedside watching, begging and praying.
"If she makes it through this night, she will pull through." The surgeon said with certainty. Once in that terrible night, her eyes opened and when she saw Robert there at her side she slept peacefully.

Robert trembles when he thinks back to that terrible day. After the gun ship had landed, a big blonde man called Mike came running towards Robert and Michelle where Robert tried to stop her bleeding.
When Robert reached for his Walter he heard Lieutenant Carr shouting: "Don't shoot! Don't shoot Robert! It's the Police!" Then Mike was with Robert and Michelle and he cried out: "What have they done to you Sis? Michelle don't you dare to die on me!" When Michelle was flown to hospital in a helicopter ambulance that arrived within minutes, Lieutenant Carr introduced Mike to Robert as Michelle's brother but he did not tell Robert that Michelle and Mike both where National Security agents.
The red file safely in the hands of the Police, most of Mark Morgan’s gang had been brought to justice, but Morgan managed to escape. When Jenkins wrote the letter to Mark Morgan in which he told him of the existence of the red file and his intent to set his life straight, he never dreamt that some innocent people die in Morgan's desperation to lie his hands on the red file. Jenkins only bargained on Morgan having him killed and by doing so, relieving him from the pain caused by the Leukaemia.
Mike had taken Clemmens Mbeki as his last assignment, but he was wrong about that. Clemmens wasn't killed when the Southern entrance of the cavern had been blasted by the gun ship's rocket. Clemmens managed to escape through the other entrance and there was one last assignment for Mike. He had to settle a personal score.
Mark Morgan was sailing lazily on his new yacht, when a diver unexpectedly climbed aboard and aimed a spear?gun, straight at his belly. "Don't shoot! I will make it worth your while," Morgan begged. The only answer that Morgan got was the spear?gun's "arrow” hitting him in the stomach.
Before Morgan had even hit the yacht's deck, the diver was already backing in the water swimming to where Erica was waiting for him on a sea going launch. They where still taking their chances with the KGB. Being alive and in love with each other, was more than enough for them.

Everything has returned to its normal routine and Robert, is on his way to his sweetheart. He again notices the flower peddler at the same place, but with the difference that there isn't a Traffic Cop in sight.
Again Robert pulls his car, out of the traffic. He puts his car in reverse and stops next to the lad, who recognizes him immediately. Slowly Robert rolls down the car's window with his one hand while his other hand, searches in his wallet for a bank note.
This time however there's a difference. Robert asks for roses, but not for red roses. The roses are for Michelle, because he is going to ask her a very important question that afternoon. No red roses for Michelle, flashes through Robert's mind. Robert asks for white roses, as pure as their love, which he receives covered with small drops of rain and he leaves behind the little vendor smiling happily.
